Every driver carries a daily list of the pupils who have completed and submitted the necessary forms. Each pupil's name is ticked off when they board.
This is an insurance requirement: no child will be allowed on the coach if their name is not on the list.
It is not the driver's responsibility to check that a child is on board. It is the responsibility of the parent and pupil to be on time and on the right coach.
No. Coach drivers are not allowed to accept any money, envelopes or application forms on the coach. Everything goes through the office at schoolroutes@eljosa.co.za.
The contract with parents stipulates semi-luxury coaches without air conditioning or heaters.
All coaches are fitted with satellite tracking and an onboard camera, so driving speed, departure and arrival times and road view can be closely monitored.
Travel times can vary with heavy traffic to and from Cape Town, especially on Fridays. We aim to keep to schedule but cannot control the road.
In the event of a breakdown, a replacement coach is sent immediately to finish the trip. Children must remain seated unless the driver instructs otherwise. If the schedule is delayed, an SMS is sent in the morning and in the afternoon.
Discipline is governed by the ElJoSa School Route Protocol, issued to parents on registration. Ask the office for a copy if you don't have one.
ElJoSa will not be held responsible for any lost property.
Always have your child's name, surname and account number ready — for example SMIC003. It makes every call and email faster to resolve.
